The Indian cricket team revealed their brand new “Billion Cheers” jersey by MPL on October 13, 2021, which they will be wearing throughout the ongoing T20 World Cup and other upcoming limited-overs matches.

After creating quite the buzz with their Retro jersey last time, MPL, the official kit sponsors of the Indian cricket team, has now brought yet another unique element in their latest introduction. With Prussian blue and royal blue dominating the gear, Indian cricket team’s brand new jersey has a soundwave design pattern across it.

Billion Cheers Jersey: Explained

Interestingly, MPL has managed to bring together the brilliant mix of sporting comfort, unique design and the fans’ support, all in one jersey. Named the “Billion Cheers Jersey”,  the soundwave design echoes the fan chants from every glorious occasion that the Indian cricket team has experienced over the years.

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli rightly puts it as, “It’s literally the roaring cheers of a billion fans in the form of a unique pattern”.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said, "The Indian cricket team enjoys support not just in India but around the world, and there's no better way to celebrate their excitement and energy than through this jersey.

"This will undoubtedly provide the team with the much-needed enthusiastic support in their quest to emerge as the T20 champions of the world. We are also pleased to see that MPL Sports continues to deliver merchandise that is widely affordable and accessible."

With Team India hosting the 2021 T20 World Cup far away from home in the UAE, owing to the pandemic situation, this jersey couldn’t have come at a better time as the players will have their loved fans cheering them on through every moment of their World Cup campaign as they aim to replicate their 2007 T20 World Cup campaign again this time. The Indian team had last won a trophy in a major ICC event in 2013.

Manufactured in a world-class facility under strict supervision, MPL’s new Indian cricket team jersey is made up of high-end performance lycra fabric that will optimize Indian players’ game on-field by providing better breathability in the heat. The Indian cricket team comes to the 2021 T20 World Cup as one of the favourites to lift the title, after the Indian players saw a successful Indian Premier League campaign in UAE just before the league. Apart from winning the title in 2007, the Men in Blue have reached one semi-final and a final in this ICC tournament in the previous six editions.

With two-time World Cup-winning captain, MS Dhoni as the mentor of the Indian cricket team and world no. 2 ranked T20I batsman Virat Kohli the skipper of the side, this T20 World Cup is India’s to lose. India come into this tournament having won 64.06% of their matches, sitting only behind West Indies and Sri Lanka.

India start their T20 World Cup campaign against archrivals Pakistan before New Zealand, Namibia, Scotland and Afghanistan await them in the Super 12s stage. The group stages will be followed by the semi-finals and final, which is scheduled to take place on November 11 and November 14, respectively.

With things looking massively in India’s favour, the Men in Blue are expected to lift the trophy and immortalise this epic jersey in cricket folklore.
